About Terri About Dominica About Logo Biography
Terri Henry is the founder & director of ‘Onelove Livity’ She is passionate about the health of people and planet and sharing ways which can uplift both. Terri has completed several graduate units in Ecopsychology at Naropa University and facilitates a variety of ecotherapy workshops. These innovative and experiential practices give participants the opportunity to enjoy genuine sensory connection with nature and inspire new perspectives on personal fulfilment, social responsibility and environmental care. She has successfully applied these programs in London, Jamaica, Belize, and Dominica with retreat groups, ecolodge consultants and clients, inner city groups, school children and MBA students from the U.S. Terri has worked as a consultant for two ecolodge projects with Hitesh Mehta and is currently working with Mr Mehta on his new book Authentic Ecolodges to research best practice Ecolodges around the world. With a keen interest in ecotourism and its principles she has visited Ecolodges in Belize, Saba, St John and Dominica. In May 2007 she attended the 9th Annual Conference on Caribbean Sustainable Tourism in Cayman. Terri has a BSc Hons. Degree in ‘Media & Society’ and is an inspiring writer. She regularly produces articles and poetry on environmental issues, nature, spirituality and holistic health which educate, uplift and inform and her work has been published internationally.
Whilst living in the UK Terri was employed with several large-scale charities including The Children’s Society, WaterAid and The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. She was also a key member of many community groups including Schools of Unified Learning (SOUL), Education Africa Teaching (EAT), Mothership Edutainment and The Amanzi Healing Foundation. Through these involvements she delivered holistic health education, supported young people on a journey to West Africa, assisted with a martial arts graduation programme in Jamaica, took a group to the Centre of Alternative Technology in Wales and co-ordinated numerous administration and fundraising tasks. She was also a member of women’s groups The Pampering Club and Sistar Circle and participated in many self development programmes. In 2002 she completed a Permaculture Design Course and immediately dug up her concrete patio and planted a herb garden! She continues to use the Permaculture principles of Earth Care, People Care & Fair Share in all her projects and everyday life. Terri moved to her family home of Dominica in February 2004 and has continued to be involved in numerous health and environmental initiatives including a Health & Beauty symposium, ‘Kid’s Day’, Natural Healing seminar and beach clean-up campaigns. She has been a guest facilitator at the ‘Veg Soul’ holistic health retreats in Jamaica, 2004 and Dominica, 2006 and was a volunteer at the Bioneers conference in Atlanta, Georgia, Oct 2005. Terri is an active member of the Dominica Organic Agriculture Movement (DOAM) and recently helped organise their launching ceremony. She is a founding member and the PRO for the Salisbury Youth Environment Committee (SYECo), and a member of The Dominica Youth Environment Organisation (DYEO), The National Association of Youth in Agriculture (NAYA), and the Sustainable Living Initiative Centre (SLIC). In her spare time Terri practices yoga, makes vegan food, hikes mountains, swims in the sea and meditates in the forest.
