More about Eco-therapy...The sunrise and the sunset, the changing of seasons, the cycle of the moon, the grasp of gravity, the abundance of air, the protection of the atmosphere, when we pause to think about it, our everyday existence is really a miracle. Yet at this time when our modern day living has become so frenetically paced, technologically dominated and disconnected from the rhythms of nature this appreciative sense of the natural world has been largely lost. Theologian and cultural historian, Thomas Berry laments that “We have stopped talking to the rivers; we are not listening to the wind and stars. We no longer feel our kinship with other life on the planet. We have lost that primordial sense of belonging to a whole web of life” In the peaceful, tranquil, and sometimes challenging environment of Dominica we come face to face with the rugged wilderness of nature and peer deeply into the reflection of our own soul. As we respect both our inner and outer nature our sense of self is expanded, rejuvenated and new perspectives on personal fulfilment, social responsibility and environmental care powerfully emerge. The word ‘Eco’ comes from the Greek word ‘oikos’ meaning home and when we spend time in the natural environment it is a homecoming for our mind, body and spirit. Led by Ecopsychology Masters candidate Terri Henry, the Ecotherapy activities are a completely unique experience in the heart of the Caribbean. Imagine taking back more than just pictures and gifts away from your holiday but a feeling of upliftment, inspiration and wholeness that remains for a lifetime. The variety of one day workshops can be taken alone or combined for a completely rejuvenating package. To all who love her, who open to her the doors of their veins, she gives of her strength. Touch the earth, love the earth, honor the earth, her plains, her valleys, her hills, and her seas; rest your spirit in her solitary places. For the gifts of life are the earth's and they are given to all, and they are the songs of birds at daybreak, Orion and the Bear, and dawn seen over ocean from the beach.” – Henry Beston (1888-1968)
