Salisbury Youth Environment Committee (S.Y.E.Co)

The Salisbury Youth Environment Committee (S.Y.E.Co) was founded
in February 2005 by a group of positive minded, energetic young people with ideas and passion about the sustainability of our environment, community, and country.

The mission statement of SYECo is:
"To encourage awareness and youth participation in protecting the local environment for ourselves and future generations."

SYECo meets regularly for various environmental and social projects which to date have included:

  • Salisbury beach clean-up campaigns
  • Educational visit to 3 Rivers Eco-lodge
  • Group presentations on environmental topics
  • Anniversary celebration evening
  • Moonlight walk and sea bathing
  • Snorkelling at Champagne Beach
  • Community movie nights

The National Association of Youth in Agriculture

The National Association of Youth in Agriculture (NAYA) is a Non Profit Organization incorporated within the Commonwealth of Dominica on April 1st 2004. Its aim is to create a greater awareness among youth and to increase their participation in the Agriculture industry empowering them to contribute to Dominica's socio-economic development.

On-going projects include:

  • TTI project - Take The Initiative Youth leaders project,
  • EWES project - Education, Welfare and Economics in Sheep Production.
  • Organic Greenhouse Production;
  • Secondary School Public Speaking Contest
  • Helping Out Our Primary Schools (HOOPS program)
  • Passion fruit production and processing project

Dominica Organic Agriculture Movement (DOAM Inc)

The Dominica Organic Agriculture Movement was officially registered as an NGO in February 2006 and consists of a varied membership of local stakeholders with an interest in Organic Agriculture. DOAM seeks to coordinate programs and activities for the holistic development of the local organic industry and assist various organic oriented organizations related to the sustainable development of the industry in Dominica.

One of the primary aims of DOAM is to establish a set of high quality standards to guide its members on the practices and procedures of organic production that meet the demanding standards of international organic agricultural trade.

DOAM encourages membership and invites participation from a wide cross section of the Dominican population.
